The Life Sciences Group is seeking an enthusiastic, people-oriented Pre/Post Sales Field Application Scientist (FAS) to present cutting edge technology to our current and potential customers. The primary role of this position is to support the Field Sales team by conducting on-site technical demonstrations and presentations of the Agilent genomics portfolio. You will be primarily focused on SureSelect target enrichment and DNA microarray applications, with secondary focus on QPCR, reagents and the 2100 Bioanalyzer. As technical liaison between our customers and sales team you will provide consultative, pre-sales technical support, analyze customer samples, provide software demonstrations utilizing real customer data and cooperatively develop end-to-end solution sales to meet customer needs. You will contribute in the development of new applications including writing application briefs to highlight product capabilities and making contributions to recognized scientific forums, including written, oral and poster presentations. You will be a key contributor in the promotion of genomics marketing activities and internal product training, as well as evaluating and providing feedback to management on new products prior to release. - Accompanies Sales Representatives on sales calls in customers laboratories to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries. - Performs product demonstrations in the field. - Supports consignment sales placements at key customer sites in the field through on-site visits and telephone communication. -Provides start-up applications consulting to customers in their laboratories. - Demonstrates proper operating procedures with Agilent Genomics Solutions. -Reports on activities in the field on a regular basis to Product Marketing and monitors technical trends in the Genomics markets. -Prepares and presents seminars to customers, potential customers and works with Agilents Product Specialists to aid in the development of technical sales strategies. Qualifications : Requires - BS/MS degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or equivalent, PhD preferred - 3+years laboratory experience in the field of Biology and practical experience in DNA microarrays, Next-Gen sequencing and associated reagents/software -Strong technical knowledge of the Next-Gen sequencing market (competitive technologies, target enrichment, data interpretation, etc). - Industrial experience specifically providing pre/post technical support for a sales organization or providing technical seminars to an audience is a plus. - Excellent communication skills - Requires flexibility in working hours and available for up to 50% business travel.
