Description

The successful candidate will perform a variety of Optical Spectroscopy analyses (FTIR, Raman, Near-IR, UV-Vis), as well as provide backup support as needed to other areas (XPS and Thermal Analysis), and generally assist senior professionals.  The ideal candidate must have good lab practices skills and some hands on with analytical tools and software. Hands-on experience in the mentioned techniques and solid understanding of optical spectroscopy are plusses.  Data interpretation and report writing with guidance is required.

The candidate will communicate technical results, interact closely with other analysts within GCC/CA (Global Chemical Catalysts Analytical Services & Material Characterization) and other scientists within R&D (i.e., customers).

Qualifications

* B.S. in a scientific discipline.  BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. * Solid background in good lab practices, some hands on with analytical instrumentation and software. * Experience with Optical Spectroscopy, Thermal analysis techniques and XPS a plus. * Knowledge of Word, Excel and Lotus Notes software required. * Good oral and written communication skills, as well as project and time management skills. * Ability to develop analytical methods with existing tools.
