For more information about Fannie Mae and our career opportunities, please visit www.fanniemae.com JOB INFORMATION Position Purpose: This individual will be responsible for supporting the on-going preparation and analysis of Single Family financial and business reporting. Included in these responsibilities, is the need to identify key drivers and trends that have or may influence changes - not only to Fannie Maes Single Family business - but Fannie Maes overall financial projections, including changes in broader market conditions, accounting policy, pricing, and any new strategies the company may have or be considering initiating. S/he will need to partner with stakeholders throughout the company including the Single Family business group, Controllers, Accounting Policy, and other divisions to create accurate and timely reporting related to Single Family financial and business results and additional ad hoc financial analysis. This reporting and analytical work is extremely important and critical - not only for the Single Family business, the Single Family Finance team, and its CFO - but also to members of Fannie Maes Executive Committee and Board of Directors. The work product generated by the team will assist in any number of decision making processes with the aforementioned parties. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS Lead, design, contribute to and/or consult on standard and ad hoc reports/analyses to summarize, reconcile and disseminate actual and forecasted financial, accounting, and business information in order to identify root causes and trends - based on varying assumptions, inputs and projected market or economic conditions - to aid in making critical business decisions Engage with key stakeholders to acquire business or financial data for analysis and delivery of financial reports and related information; ensure accurate and timely financial analysis and reporting for critical business advisory purposes Proactively develop, prepare, and continually improve information for key stakeholders in alignment with their needs and requirements; conduct timely, reliable and high-quality reporting of monthly performance and develop analysis to explain variances Ensure the effective communication around and management of reporting functions, as well as effective support of audit or regulatory inquiries Work is generally high in scope and complexity. Develops solutions and resolves a wide range of issues, as necessary. Work may be performed without explicit direction. Analyst is encouraged to be actively participant in determining key objectives and approaches to various assignments. Qualifications EDUCATION Bachelor Degree or Equivalent: advanced degree preferred (MBA a plus) Area of study: Finance, Math, or Accounting Certifications: CPA or CFA a plus MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 8+ years progressive experience within a related industry (experience in financial services, insurance or the secondary mortgage market a plus) SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Expertise in Excel and PowerPoint; as well as functional experience with Access, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, Essbase, SQL, SAS, or Business Objects Exceptional analytical skills and ability to interpret financial reports and identify how such information will impact future business results and strategies. Ability to team effectively - encourage and participate in open dialogue, listen to team members, recognize, seek and value the expertise of others Ability to gather information about business processes; extract key themes from reports and translate them to data points for stakeholders; strong presentation skills to effectively present and make recommendations based upon quantitative as well as qualitative financial and business data to in a variety audiancess including senior management; understand and engage in constructive dialogue with various subject mater experts on both large and small business and financial issues.
