Senior Attorney, Contracts

Our Senior Attorney, Contracts will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating legal contracts for a growing, profitable publicly-held womans apparel retailer with $1.5 billion in sales. This is a new position. The Dress Barn, Inc. (ticker symbol: DBRN) owns two separate businesses: over 800 dressbarn apparel stores for women 35 and older, and over 700 maurices apparel stores for women ages 17-34. Dress Barn is in the process of acquiring Tween Brands, Inc. (which has 900 Justice apparel and accessories stores for girls ages 7-12). Our new Contracts lawyer will be responsible for contracts for all three companies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review the following types of contracts from both legal and business perspectives:

* IT/software agreements * Sweepstakes and contest rules * Consulting agreements * Confidentiality agreements * Event (hotel) agreements * Credit card agreements * Employee benefits contracts * Variety of other miscellaneous contracts

Need ability to thoroughly review contracts from both legal and business perspectives, then discuss with internal business people the essential points to be negotiated with our vendors.

Skills/Requirements

•        Minimum 3-5 years experience in law firm and/or in-house Corporate Legal Department

•        Knowledge and experience with review and editing of commercial contracts, especially IT/software license agreements and related documents

•        Admission to New York State Bar preferred

•        Excellent oral and written communication skills

•        Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

•        Analytical skills

•        Good contract drafting skills

•        Strong attention to detail
