Department: ESPNW Title: Senior Director, Online Editorial JOB ID: 203602 Reporting to the Vice President of espnW, and the Editorial Director of RISE, the Sr. Director will be the lead editor RISE.com for female high school athletes, overseeing all content development as it relates to the female athlete experience, and influencing content across platforms including print and mobile. The Sr Director, working with counterparts in publishing and social media, will develop and execute the unique espnW tone and brand personality, establishing content priorities on our web site, and across all media. The Senior Director will determine key content areas housed on the site and the tools and utilities to best deliver our content and connect female athletes. The Sr. Director will also be responsible for keeping the site content relevant and fresh each and every day as we build our audience of teen female athletes. Opportunities on our site, the heart of our media offering, should encompass commerce, gaming, premium content and video. The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading ongoing site and product reviews through launch and thereafter. Position will be based in New York City with regular travel to Bristol, CT required.

Duties and Responsibilities - Lead development and enhancement of RISE web site focused on the female athlete, including buildout of product design and coordination of editorial staff and contributors. - Work closely with espnW Content team and RISE editorial staff to set overall creative direction for the female athlete aspects of the site. - Focus on user interface and user experience of web site and across all applications (including gaming, and audio) - Manage extended team consisting of outsourced producers, freelancers, vendors, and outside production companies. - This includes oversight of production of all online creative elements, including concept development, production and budget management. - Extensive technical expertise, including a strong understanding of emerging technologies and how they are evolving - Develop site content specifications and priorities based on user feedback, site analytics, market insights and competitive research - Work closely with engineering, creative, and management teams to bring products from inception to market - Work closely with Research and Marketing to deliver audience traffic and audience satisfaction. - Extensive Project Management experience and ability to manage and prioritize heavy workloads.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Finance, or a related field or equivalent work experience At least 7 years proven web editorial experience and web development knowledge 5 years digital business experience of which at least 3 years in a management role in broadcast media or related industry Experience leading a team Desired Qualifications & Skills • Passionate about launching innovative products to drive revenue, profitability growth • Detail and data oriented, a strong sense of personal ownership, and experience working in a high growth or high performance environment. • Strong editorial skills and judgment • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal communication skills; must be comfortable presenting to senior executives • Clear understanding of and experience with young female audience- ideally, with competitive athletes. • User Interface Design background a large plus • Ability to deal with management, associates, and business partners in courteous, tactful and patient manner. • Mindful of P&L implications for creative decisions. • Strong leadership skills. • Strong team-building skills. • Demonstrates care and respect for employees.
