Teaching and research are mutually supportive activities at TCNJ. Candidates should be strongly committed to the teacher-scholar model in a primarily undergraduate, residential institution and to maintaining both high quality teaching and an active and productive research program involving highly motivated undergraduates. Faculty members also serve as academic advisors and have service responsibilities within the College. A research laboratory and competitive start-up funds will be provided. The Chemistry Department is housed in a modern science complex (opened Fall 2002) that offers state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, research space, and instrumentation. Additionally, the Chemistry Department was recently awarded an NSF MRI grant to acquire a Bruker Apex 2 single crystal X-ray diffractometer and a Bruker D8 Focus powder X-ray diffractometer. We seek a broadly trained inorganic chemist who has the potential to establish a highly visible undergraduate research program and collaboratively contribute to interdisciplinary curricular and scholarly efforts within the School of Science and at the College. The successful candidate will teach a junior/senior-level, lab-based inorganic chemistry course and develop an upper-level course based on his/her area of expertise. Additional teaching responsibilities will include rotation through introductory/core chemistry courses. Research in any area of inorganic chemistry will be considered, including interdisciplinary fields such as bioinorganic, organometallic, catalysis, materials, and nanotechnology. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related field. Although post-doctoral experience is preferred, other backgrounds will be considered; ABDs will be considered only if the degree will be completed prior to start date.
