We currently have an opening for a Senior Outside Claim Representative to join our Property team located in Woodbury, NY. This position a remote/ work from home position that involves resolving Personal and Commercial Property claims of routine to moderate complexity on Long Island. In addition, this position provides efficient and effective disposition of assigned claims through timely investigation, evaluation, and negotiation. Utilizes estimating skills and software to establish proper claim scope. Operates within assigned authority levels and recommends and implements action plans for settlement of claims exceeding authority level. Responsibilities: 1) Makes timely and appropriate contacts, determines and completes appropriate level of investigation to make determination of coverage, assess liability and determine damages. Takes a recorded statement from all parties involved in the claim. 2) Determines exposure, establishes adequate reserves and makes timely adjustments as required. 3) Assigns and directs activities of internal and external resources as required; including independent adjusters, engineers and accountants. Identifies questionable claims and consults with SIU for further direction as appropriate. 4) Determines settlement value of the loss and negotiates proper settlement of claims within authority. Provides recommendations for settlement and disposition of claims exceeding authority level. 5) Documents clearly and concisely all relevant activity on assigned files and makes recommendations for additional activity as appropriate. 6) Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external). Requirements: Strong claims technical knowledge, and legal climate background in local market is essential. Strong analytical and negotiation skills. Must have the ability to interact with customers. Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including current Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must maintain a high level of accuracy, and provide follow-through on projects. Requires the ability to maintain confidential information and work independently and as a member of a team. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of property claims experience; including a minimum of 1 year of Commercial Property Claims experience. *Other Information: Requires a valid drivers license.Requires the ability to bend, stoop or climb stairs to view property damages May require lifting equipment up to 20 pounds.
