Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent with a minimum of four years Postdoctoral research experience in an academic environment in Biomedical Sciences. Experience in molecular biology research methods in cancer research or stem cell research. Capable of functioning as a student mentor with strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent communication skills including command of the English language as demonstrated by lead authorship or published research communications, experience with grant applications. Record of grant support at national level. To qualify for an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor, the candidate must meet the School of Medicines criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure located at http://www.stonybrookmedicalcenter.org/body.cfm id=1383#apt. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstration of academic capability such as prior research experience and productivity, and current productivity. Prior history of obtaining external funding for research such as ROI-type at national level, career development grants, and fellowships, postdoctoral. Teaching experience. Responsibilities & Requirements: Serve as principal investigator and director of a laboratory that will focus on basic and/or translational biomedical cancer research or stem cell research in the field of experimental Pathology. There will be substantial commitment to writing of manuscripts and grant applications and training of graduate students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows in research methodology.
