Assoc Dir, Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics

The Associate Director, Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics will provide statistical leadership in biomarker development and discovery for clinical trials in phases 1-4 in multiple therapeutic areas. He/She will also be responsible for statistical collaboration in biomarker strategy, study design, methodology, analysis and interpretation. Additional essential functions of this position include:  adapting to evolving biological knowledge with creativity and rigor; authoring statistical analysis plans, creating analysis and dataset specifications, performing statistical analyses and validation, creating regulatory-quality displays of results, authoring clinical study reports, and presenting and interpreting results to clinicians and scientists. The successful individual will also perform exploratory and ad-hoc analyses; continually develop statistical skills and use novel statistical methodology when appropriate; and develop and advise other team members.  A PhD in statistical genetics, (bio)statistics, or scientific field with strong statistical component and 5+ years experience with clinical trials in the pharmaceutical field are required.  The qualified candidate must also be skilled in the analysis of high-throughput genetic, genomic, and biomarker data, with an understanding of multiplicity issues and experienced with standard (generalized linear models, survival analysis) and advanced (cross-validation, bootstrap, penalized regression) statistical methods. He/she must also possess:  expertise in SAS, SPlus, and R including advanced statistical analysis, data manipulation, graphing, and good software design; good understanding of regulatory requirements for biomarker qualification; knowledge of and ability to learn biomarker biology and incorporate biology into analysis and interpretation; strong collaboration and leadership skills; and the ability to mentor and manage a highly skilled team.
