Dir of Exploratory Development and Clinical StatisticsPosted: November 15, 2009
The Director of Exploratory Development and Clinical Statistics will provide leadership and expertise with focus on design and planning of the development program, study design with focus on innovation to solve key development program strategic issues, statistical analysis and interpretation, new methodology development and report writing, presentations and publications, as well as regulatory strategy and interactions. He/She will also be responsible for managing statisticians and programmers and directing their work on study teams. The successful individual will be expected to maintain a strategic involvement in project decisions; ensure compliance with process and quality of deliverables within the development program; and be expected to work in a collaborative and effective relationship with Discovery Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology Leads that result in optimizing the value of the asset under investigation. A PhD in statistics, biostatistics or a scientific field with a strong statistical component and 7-10+ years experience are required. The qualified candidate must also have comprehensive knowledge of statistical theory and methods with training and/or experience in the design of early phase first in human proof of concept & clinical pharmacology trials. In addition, he/she must possess the following: experience leading, managing and mentoring statisticians and programmers; expertise in SAS, S Plus or R including statistical analysis, data manipulation, and scientific graphing; and clinical program development planning and innovative clinical trial design experience or knowledge. Knowledge of clinical pharmacology, biomarker biology and medicine or ability to learn it quickly in the context of statistical applications and clinical trial designs; proven ability to lead strategically; effective verbal and written communication skills; the ability to interact collaboratively; and the ability to thrive in a multi disciplinary team environment are required.
