The SR DBA is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Oracle databases. The SR DBA performs a database administration role for a government agency. The SR DBA is tasked with the administration of an Oracle 10G and 11G RDBMS including Oracle RAC, Oracle Database Replication, Oracle Data Guard, Partitioning, backup/recovery, security/auditing, and performance tuning. Other responsibilities include SQL tuning, ERD documentation, data imports/exports, as well as planning and managing the database components of the software, patch management, upgrades and integration. Additionally, the Oracle DBA is responsible for the gathering and analysis of system metrics to better manage and keep aware of capacity issues, i.e., space, I/O and CPU utilization. Responsibilities: ? Review and analyze database requirements; develop detailed database design specifications to meet identified requirements. ? Review and analyze user needs; determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems. ? Install and maintain database performance by developing tuning methodologies. ? Install and maintain Oracle 10g and 11G RAC primary and standby databases with partitioning. ? Manage and implement database security and user accounts. ? Design and implement backup and recovery strategies. ? Assist with the design and development of data models as needed. ? Assist with the development and implementation of database/SQL standards and methodologies. ? Analyze and report on database metrics; administer and control data resources; monitor and ensure database integrity, security, and performance; and implement tools to improve database performance. ? Develop and maintain stored procedures and write complex database queries. ? Work with customer to gather data requirements and generate ad-hoc data requests. ? Work with customers to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, resolve issues, and promote team services and capabilities. Required Skills and Experience: ? 6 years experience as a DBA ? Working knowledge of data modeling; database administration problems and requirements; and database analysis and design procedures, techniques, and implementation. ? Experience with Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g, and 11g in a Unix / Linux environment ? PL/SQL experience which includes creating, loading, debugging, and managing Oracle stored procedures, packages and functions. ? 10g RAC / Cluster experience is a must. ? Scripting in Bourne shell, ksh, Perl ? Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. ? Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees. ? Strong written and oral communication skills. ? Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. ? Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Desired Skills and Experience: ? 11g RAC / Cluster experience ? Experience in a Government contracting environment. Required Education and Certifications: Bachelors Degree in computer science or related discipline or Associates Degree with five years of experience Desired Education and Certifications: ?
