Brand Insight Center of Excellence Team Leader

The Brand Insight Center of Excellence Team Leader will report directly to the Director, Brand Insight Center of Excellence. The Brand Insight Center of Excellence Team Leader is accountable for ensuring optimal and efficient analytical and research support within the Brand Insight Center of Excellence. This role is aligned to multiple Brand Teams and thus works with the Brand Insight Directors to understand business needs, plan research requirements and communicate results. This Leader role will manage and develop Analyst(s) and Market Research Manager(s) in the Center of Excellence. This individual will assist key customers with interpreting information to support commercial decisions as well as helping customers utilize these insights to shape future strategic initiatives. Market Research vendor relations and management will be part of this role. Ultimately, this position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the creation of information that aids in planning and decision making within and across brands by fostering proactive research, analysis and communication. This role will help to operationalize the BI Center of Excellence as well as promote the Center of Excellence with internal and external (to CI) customers. The Brand Insight Center of Excellence Team Leader will help define and then utilize the new business Governance Process, which will facilitate research resource allocation across the Center of Excellence. This role is reserved for a market researcher who has strong technical skills, effective communication abilities and demonstrated success in developing and mentoring others. Of particular importance is the ability to be a proactive internal consultant adding insight value to the team through an understanding of secondary data, primary market research application, and the commercialization process. Key Responsibilities of the Brand Insight Center of Excellence Team Leader include: • Work closely with the BI Director(s) and the Brand Teams to ensure individual Brand Team and overall AstraZeneca business needs are fully and efficiently met • Think strategically and tactically to coordinate the appropriate analytical expertise necessary to address a variety of different business issues (e.g. coordinate demand, governance) • Foster clear and succinct communication • Incorporate the Business Governance process into the functioning of the Business Insight Center of Excellence • Negotiate resources within the Center of Excellence and across brands • Provide oversight and direction for analysis and research. Direct involvement in key research initiatives. • Support all performance monitoring by providing a range of primary research and analytic services that deliver rigorous customer insight and actionable recommendations. • Responsible for recruiting, training, managing, coaching and developing Managers, and Analysts • Set direction and clear priorities for the Analyst(s)/Market Research Managers within the Center of Excellence, that are linked to the US business priorities • Consult and collaborate with other functional areas to reduce duplication of work • Maintaining effective relationships with contractors and other third-party vendors through oversight of the vendor management process Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Education: - Bachelors Degree in relevant field Experience: - 7+ years of analytical experience, 5 years in Health Care Industry Skills and Competencies: - Ability to manage and coach team members (including development of skills). - Ability to understand breadth and relative business value of CI offerings. - Ability to work in a collaborative and influencing fashion. - Ability to create the strategic vision and efficiently operationalize the Center of Excellence(s) (e.g. reputation, business integration, SOPs, SLAs, metrics). - Superior communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong foundation in secondary pharmaceutical data, statistical analysis and the techniques and application of primary market research. - Understanding of internal information sources including sales data reporting, analysis and customer targeting strategies/methods. - Strong process orientation. - Ability to manage multiple work streams and to develop effective cross-functional analytical processes. - Ability to manage and lead numerous projects at the same time, especially large-scale projects. - Experience with proactive project management and strategic thinking. - Knowledge of the AZ business planning process. - Collaborate closely with others in Commercial Insight. - Exhibit business acumen in working with research vendors. - Desire to maintain skills through formal and informal training. Preferred: Education: - Advanced Degree (e.g. MBA) Experience: - Over 10 years of analytical experience with at least 5 years of Pharmaceutical Market Research. - Managed a group of at least 1-3 analytical staff. - Project/program management expertise Skills and Competencies: - Strong analytical ability with a thorough understanding of the value and processes associated with primary and secondary market research. - Superior communication skills driven by the ability to convert derived insight into strategic guidance. - Ability to think strategically and tactically and coordinate the appropriate analytical expertise necessary to address a variety of different business issues.
