International Specialist

  Job ID: SSM20092910-38893  Description: The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for anInternational Specialistfor our International Education program who will be resident in our Washington, D.C. office. The specialist will work with the Director of International Education and office staff to plan, manage, and implement U.S. Department of State grant related programs in the U.S. or overseas. This isa term position through December, 2010, but is renewable pending grant funding.  RESPONSIBILITIES *      Responsible for day-to-day management of grant related projects such as Explore, Reconnect, and Reconnect-Plus. *    Communicate and liaise with participating advisers and universities. *    Plan and evaluate program activities and logistics. *    Perform a variety of program management tasks related to grant services which may include, but are not limited to: creating/managing databases, budget and cost share monitoring, program evaluation tools and surveys, researching and compiling data or information, developing materials and presentations, and coordinating the distribution of information to external constituent groups. *    Assist in developing grant proposals for federal agencies (State Department). Write reports and recommend changes in programs and services as required. *    Perform varied program promotion activities, which may include representation at conferences (national and international) and meetings, consultations with outside groups or individuals, and participation in training activities related to overseas educational advising centers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: BA or BS required, Masters preferred. Between 2-3 years progressively responsible experience in university admissions or international higher education. Project coordination, federal budget and grant writing experience, and knowledge of the EducationUSA network of advising centers preferred. Related Skills & Other Requirements: High level understanding of the U.S. system of higher education and admission testing. Extensive knowledge of the academic environment and institutional networks in the U.S. and abroad. Experience in planning of workshops and short-term training sessions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including oral presentation/public speaking skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including intercultural relations. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications and Internet research skills. Database development and management experience. Solid organizational, time & task management skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple situations simultaneously. Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
