Description FTN Equity Capital Markets is an equity research, sales and trading firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. We are a registered broker/dealer and a wholly owned subsidiary of First Tennessee Bank, N.A., which is owned by First Horizon National Corporation. First Horizon National Corporation is publicly traded SEC registrant. Our focus is providing institutional investors with objective, bottom-up, fundamental research on domestic companies in various industries, such as consumer, health care, manufacturing, business services and technology and financial services. We also are a full service investment banking firm offering equity and debt underwriting, and mergers and acquisition services. Research Associates are members of a research team tasked with providing written equity research to investing institutions on a limited number of companies in a defined industry segment. This position focuses on biotechnology drug firms. A research associatea?s responsibilities include financial analysis and research, creating complex financial earnings models, support written report production, utilizing and maintaining various outside resources for gathering data and building relationships with internal and external institutional customers. This position reports directly to two Senior Research Analysts and may eventually provide direct supervision to Market Research Associates. Requirements a? A graduate or an undergraduate degree with training in business (i.e., finance, accounting, economics) and a minimum GPA of 3.2 (out of 4.0 scale) a? MBA, M.D. PhD preferred a? Series 7, 63, 86, 87 preferred a? Excellent communication skills to interact with senior executives of large corporations and the institutional investment community; a? Strong writing skills; a? A self-starter, with a strong work ethic and interest in learning the equity research industry; a? A positive attitude to work closely with members of an equity research team; a? Exceptional analytic skills; a? Ability to manage numerous projects at once with attention to detail; and a? Strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, internet searches).
