The Outdoor Discovery Schools is seeking winter sports enthusiasts who have experience snowshoeing to guide participants on Winter Walk On Adventures. Share your passion for winter outdoor activities with others. Must able to work weekends. Season runs from Jan. 24, 2009 into March - snow permitting.

Position Purpose:

To serve as an instructor for Outdoor Discovery Schools. Responsible for site preparation, lesson plan execution, on-site resolution of customer service issues, and performing administrative duties related to ODS operations.  Maintain support materials.

Skills: Current Adult CPR (with maniking testing) and Basic First Aid Certifications. Snowshoeing experience with excellent technical competence -Ability to demonstrate and explain basic snowshoeing skills -Ability to manage activities in cold weather -Ability to provide outstanding customer service -High safety awareness and sound judgment -Ability to organize time -Strong verbal communication skills -Good group management skills

Job Tasks:

1. Understand and execute the goals of the Outdoor Discovery Schools in keeping with the L.L. Bean tradition and image.

2. Make preparations necessary for the instruction of ODS programs i.e. equipment and site preparation, understanding the objectives of the program, etc.

3. Maintain expertise standards as established by ODS.

4. Fulfill the role of L.L. Bean ODS Instructor, effectively communicating with customers and transferring knowledge and skills related to ODS activities.

5. Perform administrative duties associated with instructing classes.

6. Notify ODS Coordinator of an issue affecting customer safety or program quality.

7. Know and follow all safety rules and procedures. Report any unsafe acts or conditions to the appropriate person.

7. Perform additional related responsibilities as requested.
