Conduct research and provide administrative support for senior scholars in relevant subject areas. Education/Experience Requirements M.A. in international affairs or related area required with emphasis on Chinese politics and foreign policy. Will also consider candidates who have undergraduate degree with extended graduate-level research experience (i.e. international fellowship or program certificate from on-site work in China). Minimum of 1 year relevant experience. Knowledge Requirements Background and understanding of international affairs; strong skills as a writer and editor of academic text; superior qualitative research; excellent organizational and communication skills; proficiency in Internet research and use of database programs; ability to prioritize in a heavy workload environment. High proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese. Applicants must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 75% Research Assistance: * Conduct research on project issues; provide analysis of data and independent writing including narrative reports to funders; contribute to writing of international case studies, policy briefs, and project monograph. * Edit articles, monographs and books for both substance and language clarity. * Assemble relevant material including press reports, interviews, government data, documents, and reports, and seminars. * Write summary reports of forums, symposia, and conferences; draft abstracts, summaries, and analyses of books and articles. * Monitor and summarize current developments in geographic areas of project work. * Read sources for relevancy to research themes; compile bibliographies and chronologies. * Perform document retrieval using Internet and other online resources. 25% Administrative Support: * Schedule appointments and make travel arrangements for senior staff as assigned. * Manage logistical arrangements for forums, seminars and conferences. * Screen calls to determine purpose and nature of requests and where appropriate answer these. * Copy edit and proofread fellows? work. * Assist with general China Center administrative needs, as required, such helping to maintain database of relevant officials, experts, journalists and regional actors involved in issues that China Center scholars are working on.
