Research Scientist II, P22 (W764P) Oct. 30, 2009 - Jan. 29, 2010 Location: Albany, NY Salary Range: $60,617/yr Employment Type: Full Time Department: Wadsworth Center - Division of Environmental Health Sciences Description: Position will remain open until filled. Duties: The incumbent will be required to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct instrumental analysis of biomonitoring specimens using LC-MS/MS (Applied Biosystems API 2000 and 4000). Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry methods will be applied in the analysis of urinary phthalate metabolites, organophosphate metabolites, pyrethroid metabolites, perfluorochemicals and perchlorate. This position requires experience with the calibration and maintenance of MS instrumentation, and familiarity with the principles of GC-MS and LC-MS. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to assist with routine determinations of POPs and metabolites of contaminants in urine to support biomonitoring projects. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in analytical chemistry, environmental science or a related field and three years of professional research experience in the above fields; OR a Masters degree in one of the above fields and two years of such experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experienced analytical chemist with training and experience in MS instrumentation techniques. Conditions of Employment: Grant funded position.
