BD is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer About us Description PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE Under the supervision of the Engineering Lab Manager, the laboratory technician will plan and perform experiments that support new product or technology feasibility testing, which may include developing new methods or conducting routine procedures; Assist in the planning and analyzing of experiments and reporting the results to project leadership via data forms, oral presentation or technical reports; Serve as a technical expert on laboratory instrumentation, including, but not limited to, robotic workstations, automated analysis instrumentation, and general laboratory equipment; Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary to support scientific and technical objectives as well as meet regulatory and governance requirements; Maintain good laboratory practices (GLP) and support intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique and patentable ideas by maintaining an R&D Laboratory Notebook; Other duties as assigned The laboratory technician is expected to support his/her team by taking an active role in problem solving tasks and team activities focusing on the goals of safety, quality, schedule, and cost. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Sample collection, set-up and performance (or shipment to third party vendor) for all required testing. Maintains accurate and current records of all results and procedures. Must be able to ensure a high degree of accuracy in all test results obtained. Assists Development Technologists in miscellaneous laboratory procedures and projects as required. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY A good command of oral, written communication skills and computer literacy required. Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheet applications and word processing to perform necessary tasks for preparing required correspondence, reports and communication. Knowledge of quality system documentation, ISO9001, ISO11137 and Quality System Regulations preferred. Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, possess excellent organizational and problem solving skills, and be effective as a team player. Must possess the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. The ability to perform work with due regard for safety of self and others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma plus 5-10 years of experience in a laboratory setting, or a two year Associate Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
