JAVA Architect Developer

provides technical solutions for the Margin and Collateral Operational areas. The group is part of Firmwide Technology. The team’s primary development effort is a new real-time, distributed Strategic Margining Platform. This high profile project leverages common functionality from existing margin calculators and allows banking clients to benefit from cross-product, cross-entity margin calculations, improved reporting and visibility of margin calculations in addition to improving the controls in the operational areas and better management of client exposure. The timeliness and accuracy of margin calls is critical and this project has received senior management focus from many areas of the organisation and an aggressive multi-year phased delivery is in progress with early focus on the Prime Brokerage business and the Hedge Fund clients they service. The technologies used within the team are Java, JSP, UDB, JMS, Tomcat, Hibernate and Struts - plus the implementation of caching and workflow (jBPM) technologies. C# to the technologies used as we migrate the UI away from a web based UI to .NET.
For Role Summary:
We are looking for senior Java developers to drive the design and evolution of an infrastructure and application components. The successful applicants will participate in technical design sessions and code reviews, create and evolve code using Test-Driven Development, and interact with other technology teams within financial Risk, Legal, and Operations to deliver consistent, accurate calculations to our users. The role will be hands-on and will allow you to gain an understanding of collateral management and the broad array of products traded at the firm, including our OTC derivatives, securities, loans, and funding businesses. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of a project lifecycle and work with extremely bright, motivated individuals. Principle Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the technical design of specific projects
• Hands-on implementation
• Evolve our strategic architecture to support scalabiltiy and high availability Experience /Skills:
• High degree of competency in Object Oriented Design and Analysis
• Expert level knowledge of Java
• Demonstrated history of technical project successfully deployed to production
• Experence in test-driven development
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• 4-6 years of relevant experience
• Desirable:
• Familiarity with UML, Tomcat,and Eclipse
