Pilot Plant Manager

The manager is responsible for the daily operation of a chemical pilot plant carrying out processes at up to 200L scale Supervising a technical team the manager will oversee the implementation and optimization of processes with fixed equipment and be involved in hands on execution with API synthesis at the 5 20kg scale under cGMP with strict adherence to health safety and environment issues The manager ensures that materials are prepared to agreed timelines and quality attributes to support toxicology formulations or clinical requirements Prepares SOPs writes technical reports conducts risk assessments and participates in technology transfer of processes to third parties Education Experience Required PhD with 7 10 years of experience in pilot plant and scale up operations or B Sc M S Process Chemical Engineer with exceptional ability and 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical or fine chemicals industry A demonstrated ability to execute under cGMP and is familiar with regulatory requirements of API manufacture for clinical use Experience with technical transfer activities and interactions with CMOs Solid knowledge of organic chemistry modern synthetic methods chemical reactivity and analytical instrumentation Demonstrated ability to lead pilot plant operations and supervise a technical team Strong organizational and communication skills works well in a team environment Aware of health safety and environment issues in scale up and pilot plant operations Candidate must be familiar with software such as Excel and Microsoft Project Gantt charts pilot plant monitoring devices chemical databases for COGs determination such as ACD and SciFinder
