Snr Business Analyst

Senior Business Analyst: Long Term Contract Washington DC Qualifications: - Minimum of a Bachelors degree in computer science/IT, with additional Finance background or related field with over all work experience of at least ten years. - Minimum of 6 years of direct experience in business analysis and data and process modeling techniques. - Experience with the Rational Unified Process (data flow diagrams, activity hierarchy diagrams, use case diagrams, activity diagrams). - Outstanding analytical skills. - Ability to quickly gain an understanding of system/business processes and interact with mid-level business users to extract business process details. - Excellent communication and facilitation skills - Effective listening: ability to clearly document the real need - Influencing: Ability to lead the business to a solution that will meet their true needs. - Empathy: Ability to see the solution in the eyes of the customer. - Ability to understand the clients personal style and match with equal style that is not threatening (e.g., to a detailed style: provide detail, to a conceptual thinker: keep it high level). - Ability to lead: To show leadership with clients and be their voice in CBI and to then lead the delivery for the client. - Efficiency and discipline: Able to work on multiple tasks at the same time, excellent planning and coordination ability. - Excellent writing/documentation skills. - Experience in at least one of the areas in the Desired Skills section below. Experience in at least one of the following areas is highly desirable: - Financial operations, risk management, etc. - Accounting - Financial reporting; familiarity with US-GAAP and IFRS is a plus - Treasury operations - Capital markets, including understanding of financial products such as loans, equities, derivatives, etc. - Risk management: operational, credit, market - Investment Operations - Loan/investment processing - Portfolio management - Advisory Services - Program development - Consulting Experience in Data modeling will be a plus Goals and Responsibilities The BAs role is to understand the needs of the business users and translate these into specific project artifacts and deliverables that will be used by the team to execute the IT work program. The role is to capture client business needs and to document what is needed to meet those needs from an IT perspective. The management of expectations is critical in this interface role. The BA will typically work under the direction of a CBI Client Relationship Officer (CRO) in the early (concept and charter) stages of an IT project. In some circumstances, the BA may continue working on a project as it progresses through requirements definition, design, development and/or testing. Duties: - Develop strong familiarity with the clients system development methodology and IFC applications, processes and data. - Analyze and document IFC business system processes and existing/proposed functionality of assigned system/project using the Rational toolset and specific artifacts (e.g., use case diagrams, use case specifications, class diagrams, activity diagrams, state transition diagrams, sequence diagrams). - Conduct/attend requirements definition meetings with end users and document system requirements. - Analyze user requirements and assess process impact. - Create as-is and to-be process models using the Rational tool set or other standard process modeling tools, to represent business processes for the area under analysis. - Capitalize on the experience gained from the analysis of the assigned systems processes to assist the core process modeling team in integrating the system and process model changes into corporate process models and appropriate Operational Procedures. - Contribute to the development of a body of generally applicable methods, procedures and deliverables for the business modeling function.
