Sr. Mechanical/Project Engineer Location: Sparks Glencoe, MD Category: Engineering Status: Temporary/Contract Reference: US_EN_2_106010_133227 Salary: N/A Posted: October 06,2009 Sr. Mechanical/Project Engineer- JOB SUMMARY: Provides mechanical/electro-mechanical engineering support for manufacturing operations, specifically, in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) products. Position supports capacity expansion projects for the reagent product plants, projects to improve product and process robustness, and new product introduction at our clients facilities world-wide. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for development, improvement, and maintenance of mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems for process automation within our clients manufacturing plants. Duties include: Definition of requirements for manufacturing process automation. Development of specifications for automation hardware, development of operating procedures, acceptance and validation test plans and protocols. Design, develop, upgrade and debug automated processes, process hardware, mechanical components and sub-systems. Troubleshoot hardware components and sub-systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Experience in the specification and design of automated manufacturing equipment for use within a regulated industry. Previous experience writing equipment specifications, operating procedures, and managing design efforts of equipment vendors. Experience developing and executing acceptance test and validation protocols required. Previous engineering experience in an FDA GMP/QSR environment preferred. Fluidic systems development experience preferred. Experience in development and troubleshooting of machine and process operations for conveying materials and containers, powder dispensing, 1µl to 50 ml volume liquid dispensing, liquid drying, plastic parts surface modification, plastic part assembly, capping, autoclaving and secondary packaging equipment preferred. Experience with design and manufacture processes for plastic (molded) parts is a plus. Experience with design, development, integration and debug of PLC controlled machines preferred. Excellent communication skills, ability to work within a team environment, ability to lead a project team, and ability to prioritize responsibilities required. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and CAD usage (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD) required. Six Sigma training preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering required. MS preferred. 10+ years of industrial experience required, or combination of post-BS education and experience required.
