Reporting to the AVP, Benefits Manager, the International Assignment Manager position manages AllianceBernsteins international assignment program iincluding assignment package structuring, budgeting and financial cost projections, accruals, expatriate payroll and tax compliance, policy development, vendor management, domestic and international immigration, and supervising and developing a team of two employees. Specific Responsibilities include the following: ? Effective management of the international assignment program on a day-to-day basis ? Manage and develop a staff in a highly interactive team environment ? Structure tax efficient assignment package and advise senior management on assignment costs for budget purposes ? Communicate and advise international assignees on firm policy, their compensation package, and various relocation implications ? Coordinate with accounting on appropriate balance sheet accruals for impending future global tax and service liabilities, with coordination of all tax payments ? Review and approve tax equalization calculations for the expatriate population ? Ensure global tax compliance including US and foreign withholding obligations and tax payments especially as it relates to deferred compensation ? Work closely with professionals globally in HR, Finance, Legal, Accounting, and Payroll to ensure proper program coordination, serving as a resource on compensation delivery, tax compliance, and issues relating to international relocation ? Oversee relationships with third party suppliers resolving any issues encountered ? Develop and maintain relationships with various business units to understand their changing business needs and provide expert guidance and recommendations on an appropriate international assignment strategy ? Supervise the compensation collection process for all transfers to ensure the outside tax provider has complete and accurate compensation breakdown details to prepare US and foreign tax returns ? Administer Modified PAYE for expatriates in the UK ? Conduct program reviews using benchmarking studies, market data and current tax laws to develop and implement new strategies ? Prepare salary and total compensation modeling for international relocations ? Ad hoc projects as needed This position requires at least 6 years of experience in an international assignment department and/or in expatriate taxation at an accounting firm. Experience with a Big 4 firm preferred. Additional experience includes the following: ? Strong knowledge base in individual income tax issues and tax law including foreign national and expatriate issues, foreign tax compliance and the tax equalization process ? Proven success in leading and developing a team ? Familiar with current international assignment policies and trends ? Proactive approach and solution oriented attitude ? Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills ?
