Principal Business Analyst

Arbitron Inc. is a media and marketing research firm serving radio broadcasters, cable companies, advertisers, advertising agencies and outdoor advertising companies. Arbitrons core businesses are measuring network and local market radio audiences across the United States; surveying the retail, media and product patterns of local market consumers; and providing application software used for analyzing media audience and marketing information data. The Company has developed the Portable People Meter, a new technology for media and marketing research.

Through our Scarborough Research joint venture, Arbitron also provides additional media and marketing research services to the broadcast television, newspaper, out-of-home and online industries.

We are looking for a Principal Business Analyst, to join our Enterprise Data team located in Columbia, MD

Responsibilities:

* Serves as liaison between business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs * Posseses expertise in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence. Specific expertise in Data Analysis and reading Data Models; data profiling. * Analyze business partners operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions * Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology * Translates high level business requirement into functional specification for the IT organization and manages change to such specifications * Educates the IT organization on the direction of the new business initiatives * Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation * Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprises competitive edge * Works independently or as a part of a team under general supervision, may coach junior technical staff

Requirements:

* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. Or equivalent work experience * 10 years of overall professional experience * 8 years experience in full lifecycle software systems development * 8 years focus in functional, data, and system analysis * 3 years specific experience with Data Warehousing
