The Company has developed the Portable People Meter, a new technology for media and marketing research. Through our Scarborough Research joint venture, Arbitron also provides additional media and marketing research services to the broadcast television, newspaper, out-of-home and online industries. We are looking for a Workforce/Planning Principal for our Columbia, MD or Global Calling Center in TX. The Workforce/Planning Principal is responsible for maintaining appropriate schedules to support staffing levels for part-time Telephone Interviewers & Supervisory staff to meet the outbound and inbound call demand. In addition, this role must align the calling commitments to an agreeded upon schedule based on appropriate volumes and outbound calling during specific times of day and day of week. This position focuses on meeting part-time labor scheduling needs while ensuring Supervisor coverage for the Interviewing organization in all locations. Additionally, the role must ensure payroll matches actual work time and align with budget allocation. Primary responsibilities include: * Implementing and maintaining successful, cost-effective scheduling and staffing strategies for part-time telephone interviewing & Supervisors in all geographical locations * Collaborating with other departments as appropriate to meet Service level objectives and requirements * Scheduling, conducting and coordinating resources to meet/exceed Key performance indicators as defined * Tracking incentives and bonus * Aligning resources with business needs at Interviewer & Supervisor level * Staffing Disaster recovery scenarios in planning process * Generation of resource results reporting * Alerting leadership of schedule defects systemically * Continuous Process Improvement * Handling other scheduling -related administrative functions * Payroll interface * Other duties as assigned. Skills/Experience Requirements: * A four-year degree is preferred (equivalent experience may be considered) * 1-3 years of progressively responsible and successful workforce management and call center experience. * Experience with scheduling a part time workforce outbound preferred. * Strong PC skills (proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Visio, InfoPath, PowerPoint, Access, IEX, Blue Pumpkin or equivalent tool required) * Must be highly organized, self-motivated and detail-oriented * Exceptional written and oral communication skills are a must * Exceptional collaboration skills are a must * Must work equally well independently and as part of a team * Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment * Six sigma green belt or knowledge of quality methodology a plus * Candidate must be willing to work non-standard hours as needed.
