The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is seeking a Regional Administrative Assistant to provide administrative financial reconciliation support to its Middle East and North Africa team. The Regional Administrative Assistant will process and monitor general accounting practices for the Middle East and North Africa team, specifically ensuring the accurate allocation and reconciliation of funds for its programs and field offices. The position will be based in Washington, DC and will report to the Middle East and North Africa teams Regional Deputy Director. Required Skills * Tracks and reconciles monthly field office financial reports, ensuring financial compliance with award guidelines, NDI policies and procedures, and accurate allocation of program costs; * Reconciles field office bank accounts from bank statements to Accounting department reports on a monthly basis; * Collects and tracks timesheet submissions from regional team members, in collaboration with Deputy Regional Director, and routes to proper destinations; * Reviews invoices and records project allocations for monthly team vendors invoices; * Communicates with designated staff in field offices to reconcile and correct any noted concerns regarding financial systems, processing, documentation, tracking, or compliance issues; * Ensures the accuracy of all documents submitted to and adjustments made through the Accounting team; * Maintains security of all financial records. Required Experience * Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping preferred; * Minimum of one (1) year relevant basic accounting experience required; * Experience with reconciliation processes for programs funded by USAID and other bi- and multi-lateral donors strongly preferred; * Experience with an international nonprofit accounting processes preferred; * Strong mathematical and analytical skills to identify financial inconsistencies and viable solutions to such inconsistencies; * Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain productive business relationships and to effectively interact with all levels of staff and vendors; * Strong oral and written communications skills to effectively present detailed financial information and respond to questions * Ability to read, analyze and interpret government and organization rules and regulations; * Capability to work both independently and as a member of a team; * Proficiency with PC-based word processing, Excel spreadsheet applications and accounting-related software; * Ability to practice discretion and maintain the confidentiality and security of accounting records; * Ability to pay strict attention to detail and accuracy.
