The Lab Technician is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the lab at a clinical research facility.
• Obtain, process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing and/or shipments per protocol adhering to IATA/Hazmat guidelines. Specimens may include blood, urine, saliva, sputum, stool, etc. • Performs routine tests using chemical and biological investigative procedures • Order lab supplies and equipment required for study conduct • Ensure lab is stocked with everyday supplies, (i.e., needs, tourniquets, gauze, alcohol pads) • Recognizes problems, determines probable cause and formulates a solution using SOP’s • Maintain temperature logs and respond to lab concerns • Prepare lab requisition forms prior to sample shipment to local lab • Maintain daily lab shipment log • Complete point of care testing per protocol (i.e., urine, pregnancy tests) • Retrieve all lab reports, ensure all results are reported, highlight all out of range results, present reports to the study nurse • Maintain lab equipment and inventory
Qualifications: BS degree Experience with processing and packaging specimens
1 to 3 years lab experience (This position entails the risk of exposure to hazardous substances. Must be willing to comply with all requirements designed to reduce risk)
