Architect Specialist

Title: Architect Specialist Location: NJ-Warren OVERVIEW: The Application Database Administrator will be responsible for architecture, dba management and some application support of an extreme availability, high-performance database architecture for the Premier Global Corporate internet-based Cash Management System. This role is for a Sr. Application DBA within the application support team. This candidate must have a background in large databases and a knowledge of Oracle RAC/OCS. HIGH LEVEL SUMMARY: As a Senior Technical Specialist, the candidate will be responsible for advanced database architecture design and support in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment. Supported systems include e-commerce, accounting, customer service, warehouse management, and/or decision support. Primary Responsibilities: .    Interaction with development teams and Project Directors to design and in some cases implements new initiatives. Candidate must be able to make design recommendations to software projects and participate in application design and architectural reviews. * Provide technical oversight and governance for database technologies in the development group. * Interact with the System's Administration and Production Support staff representing the database system's perspective for standard management oversight. * Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the database as well as ensuring security and compliance. * Provide On-Call database support on an emergency basis. * The candidate must be self-motivated and aware of new and updated technological advancements in the database field.  Secondary Responsibilities: * Working with system DBAs to forecast disk space utilization. * Mentoring junior staff and providing technical leadership on large-scale projects. * Identify and resolve issues with the aid of the Oracle Advanced Customer Support Group. * Lead initiative to develop scripts and other programs for system monitoring and maintenance. * Work closely with the Data Modeling Team, reviewing the Data Modelers scripts when necessary to be run into Production. * Define strategies for backups, migration of database changes, and longer-term system performance and capacity growth. * Perform / Lead testing initiatives. Insure testing is performed properly and review/present results with senior management with recommendations. Technical Competencies: * Operational experience with high availability solutions especially Oracle RAC, Sun Cluster, and other replication technologies. * Some Unix System User or Administration experience in order to troubleshoot database system problems. * Understanding of backup and recovery operational processes and technologies. * Possess SQL tuning expertise for tuning SQL in relational databases with a concentration on Oracle PL/SQL. * Good knowledge of PL/SQL, and assisting developers with writing and tuning database code. Other Experience: * 12 years or greater experience as Oracle DBA with primarily database experience including responsibility for databases in excess of 1 terabyte. * Must have direct experience with Oracle running on UNIX, preferably Sun Solaris. * May have experience with Microsoft SQL Server Other Desired Experience: * Some experience with Veritas, Net backup, GoldenGate. * May possess experience managing financial data management in a global banking/financial environment. A Bachelor of Science or Arts in an engineering or computer science field preferred.
