DEN Account Manager - Canada

Position Summary: The Discovery Education Network (DEN) Account Manager for Canada is responsible for building the DEN user community within Canada, fostering positive client relations, building value within key accounts and coordinating overall account management for strategic accounts in an effort to support sales and renewal goals. Responsibilities: DEN Growth 1) Grow Discovery Educator Network (DEN) membership. 2) Coordinate regional, provincial and national events and initiatives to promote the Discovery Educator Network, Discovery Education products/services and foster community. 3) Communicate regularly with other DEN staff to ensure programmatic worldwide consistency. 4) Develop strategy to identify, recruit and support teachers who will participate actively in the Discovery Educator Network. 5) Design and implement various promotions and contests to engage Discovery Educators. 6) Design and implement a variety of collaborative projects to engage educators from throughout the country. Client Relations/Value Building 1) Work with team to build value with customer by implementing strategies to ensure usage of DE products and services. 2) Work with team members to properly merchandise key activities in territory to decision makers. 3) Build, maintain & strengthen relationships with all key decision makers within territory. 4) Manage relationships with administrators and educators within territory to ensure continuous communication and service to ensure renewal of Discovery Education subscription services. 5) Collaborate with the marketing & communications team to highlight best practices and gain industry and local press coverage for key customers. Account Management 1) Understand sales objectives for accounts within territory and have a thorough understanding of local markets where sales prospects exist (i.e. demographics, education trends, funding, other key external influences). 2) Partner with team members (i.e. Sales Director, Marketing, Account Services) to support sales strategies to ensure that territory sales goals are met. 3) Work with team to create strategy for effective implementation in new key accounts. 4) Support sales team by strategically hosting events in coordination with Sales Directors and team members. 5) Utilize usage statistics to target professional development activities that will enhance value to key accounts. Product Knowledge 1) Demonstrate exceptional DE product knowledge. 2) Provide expertise in specific product areas for Discovery Education (i.e. DE streaming, DE Science, MediaShare, etc.) Budget 1)Adhere to budget by managing travel and account management expenses. General 1) Maintain a thorough understanding of DEs overall goals and strategic vision. 2) Share this knowledge with customers when appropriate. 3) Maintain an understanding of industry trends, current events, anything that may impact the business by reading professional publications, researching all available prospect/product resources and participating in professional organizations. 4) Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills. 5) Understand new technologies and industry trends and be able to speak to how they impact Discovery Education. 6) Communicate workload focus to team on a regular basis (daily, weekly, etc). 7) Proactively share information with department that youve learned in the field to support other reps/regions meeting their objectives. 8) Demonstrate a "problem solving- solution oriented" approach. 9) Complete and share call reports with team in a timely manner and play in integral role in maintaining the accuracy of database (Sales Logix). 10) Maintain clear & complete account files (ensuring ease of information sharing). 11) Travel approximately 80% of time (with seasonal variations). Establish strong relationships will all clients in your territory. Requirements: * Bachelors degree required, Masters degree or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience desired. * Approximately 6-8 years experience, or equivalent, in roles of increasing responsibility with 3 years of experience in education industry preferred. * Deep ties to the education community including the ability to navigate the political landscape of school systems. * Thorough working knowledge of education technology including digital media and emerging web technologies and their application in the educational environment. * Strong interpersonal, presentation, organizational and verbal/written communication skills. * Attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload. Ability to work as a team and in a fast-paced environment. * Candidate must be willing to travel (~80%). Discovery is committed to being an employer of choice.
