Title: Business Analyst, OSG Job Category: Information Technology Location: New York City - Lower Manhattan, NY Job Type: Regular Req Number: heal-00001229 Description: Healthfirst Position Description Job Title: Business Analyst, OSG Approved Date: 02/15/2009 Department: IS Operations Support Group Position Summary: The Business Analyst in this position will be primarily responsible for providing technical support for the Kronos Workforce Central suite of applications used by our internal Human Resources and Payroll departments. The Business Analyst plays a key role as subject matter expert and technical consultant throughout the life cycle of their assigned applications being heavily involved in planning, implementation and production support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide production technical and business systems support to the Human Resources and Payroll departments utilizing Kronos Workforce Central & Kronos HRPayroll products. Utilizes high level analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve production issues as well as develop and maintain custom solutions or configuration changes. Adept at effectively working through technical issues with both technical and non technical clients. Applies service packs and guides end user acceptance testing. Ability to author test plans, functional specifications and other technical documentation frequently. Leads small project teams as subject matter expert and may mentor other staff. Regularly works with cross functional project teams on major initiatives. Works independently while still reporting project status regularly to management and working within a heavily audited and regulated environment. Knowledge and Skills Required: Supervision Necessary: Responsible for independently completing projects or assignments. Formally reports to supervisor on a regular basis and at the end of the assignment. Work is performed under light supervision. External contacts/"Customer" Service: Within own area of expertise, articulates or identifies customer/contact needs in more complex situations. Identifies issues and determines potential solutions. Internal Contacts: Internal contact outside own department/group to persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas or collaborate on significant projects. Internal contacts may be VP of Human Resources, Director of Human Resources, HRIS Manager, Payroll Manager, andor any employee who is an end user of the system. Decision Making: Responsibilities are covered by specific policies and objectives within which frequent decisions are required. Assists in formulating recommendations on difficult and important problems. Problem Solving: Identify the problem by collecting information form several sources, analyzing, the data and recommending an appropriate solution. Independent Judgment: Duties are varied in nature, requiring the solving of both commonly encounters and unusual problems. This jobs immediate supervisor is consulted for clarification of policies/procedures Complexity of Tasks: Must be able to gather information from multiple sources and to compile that information in an organized manner. Budget Responsibility: Has no budget responsibility Requirements: Education Requirements: Associate degree required at minimum. Technical Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a minimum of 5-8 years related experience; advanced Kronos Workforce Central; SQL Server 2005/2008 and intermediate knowledge of Java/JBOSS; IIS, SSRS and Microsoft Visual Studio as well as Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Written and Oral Communication: Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional area and interact with others across Healthfirst and/or externally. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and key. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee frequently works in an indoor environment. The employee occasionally works in an outdoor environment. Conditions of Employment: Employee must pass pre-employment screening which includes a background check and drug testing. Employee must present documentation to verify minimum of high school educational requirement.
