As a Claims Specialist with Liberty International Underwriters Miscellaneous Professional Liability Claims, you will, with minimal supervision, handle a book of all professional E&O lines claims (including Lawyers Professional Liability and Architects & Engineers) throughout the entire claim's life cycle. Responsible for conducting investigations, setting adequate reserves, monitoring, documenting, and settling/closing claims in an expeditious and economical manner within the established authority limits for the line of business. Responsibilities: In this Claims Specialist role you will: * Analyze, investigate, and evaluate the loss to determine coverage and claim disposition. Utilize CMS to document claims and to diary future events or follow-up. * Within prescribed settlement authority, establish appropriate reserves for both indemnity and expense and reviews on a regular basis to ensure adequacy. Make recommendations to set reserves at appropriate level for claims outside of authority level. * Prepare comprehensive reports as required. Identify and communicate specific claim trends and account and/or policy issues to management and underwriting. * Manage the litigation process through the retention of counsel. Adhere to the line of business litigation guidelines to include budget, bill review and payment. * Pro-actively manage the case resolution process. Actively participate in mediations and arbitrations, as well as negotiation discussions within limit of settlement authority. * Participate in the claims audit process. * Provide claims marketing services by meeting with brokers, risk managers and reinsurers. * As required, maintain insurance adjuster licenses. Qualifications: JD Required. 7 years legal/claims experience, with at least 2 years within professional E&O lines. Advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques, to include but not limited to coverage issues, and product line knowledge. Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions. Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated advanced analytical, decision making and negotiation skills.
