Technician 2424 II

ATSS has a great technician opportunity to support Army Test and Evaluation programs. ATSS is an engineering services provider to the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. As a Technician II, you will assist in performing technical work. The work requires the ability to learn and apply established methods, procedures and techniques. Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non routine work may also be reviewed in progress. Follows specific instructions, assembles and constructs simple or standard equipment or parts; may service or repair simple instruments or equipment. Conducts a variety of tests using established methods. Prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, and records test data, pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors. Extracts engineering data from various prescribed but non standardized sources; processes the data following well defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry; presents the data in prescribed form. Experience with electro optical laboratory instrumentation, spectrometers, data acquisition, LabView, image measurement and analysis is desired. Knowledge in testing optoelectronic components, technical writing and reporting, equipment specification, and materials testing, standard video, high speed video and still camera operation is a definite plus. You must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. No relocation assistance is available. Education, Training & Experience Must have 3 years applicable experience; or at least 60 credit hours or an Associates Degree and 1 year applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 2 years applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 1 year applicable experience. Physical Requirements May require sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time (up to 70%). The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 50%). Work Environment Work environment may be inside or outside depending on the task. If working in certain specialized areas, test may be conducted on a random basis. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold extreme temperatures, and other outdoor climatic conditions (up to 25%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts. Equipment and Machines Conducts test and evaluations using ballistics, general equipment, high speed thermocouple data acquisition, flash x-ray systems, and /or toxic fumes measurement. Uses a variety of standard references, guides, and precedents to obtain needed information. Work may require being around moving machinery and equipment. Work may require driving auto equipment, forklifts as well as other equipment. Attendance Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice. Other Essential Functions Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. May be subject to a hearing test, laser eye exam, and complete blood count. If working with depleted uranium, an Urinebioassay and Invivo lung scan may also be required. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. May be subject to exposure to noise, vibration, temperature extremes, solvents, dusts, lead, radiation, petroleum, oil, and lubricants. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
