Stony Brook University is accepting Research Scientist applications for the Department of Physics and Astronomy for positions that may become available throughout the year. The incumbent will develop, design, and run research experiments and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Develop and design research experiment in a field of his/her choice in theoretical nuclear physics, including elementary particle physics, gauge field theory, statistical mechanics, super-gravity, super-symmetry, super-string theory or related subjects. Prepare manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed and/or scientific journals. Prepare grant proposals; apply for grants to include writing proposals for the research projects, identifying funding sources, and training opportunities. Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance, and ordering of supplies as needed. Other duties as assigned. Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
