OVERALL SUMMARY The Copywriter is responsible for producing advertising and marketing copy solutions that support the HBO and Cinemax brands. The Copywriter works closely with project teams and clients to develop concepts and write effective copy that meets clients? business objectives and maximizes the impact of each marketing message. The Copywriter is also responsible for executing and understanding the Copy Editing function ensuring the grammatical, legal and factual accuracy in all copy when it is first delivered to designers/clients. The Copywriter may also act as a proofreader when needed for all print, web, outdoor, and collateral materials. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ? Write creative, effective copy for multiple projects at once, across a variety of media. ? Develop creative concepts for campaigns and marketing pieces. ? Participate in brainstorming sessions with designers and project teams. ? Deliver complete, error-free copy formatted in standardized Copy Deck template, with all necessary legal language and registration marks. ? Work independently to execute assigned projects. ? Keep team members and managers informed of copy changes with regular project updates and revised copy decks. ? Understand client business objectives and apply them to copy. ? Solicit copy feedback from clients and work closely with them to finalize copy decks. ? Work closely with copy editors to maintain all copy standards throughout project. ? Collaborate with team members. ? Obtain marketing research from Copy Manager to ensure familiarity with current trends, cycles and demographics. ? Provide proactive leadership on copy for all assigned projects. ? Accountability across all levels for adhering to project timelines, client support, and service. ? Report directly to Copy Manager. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES ? Inform Copy Manager about any work-related issues and maintain constant contact with the assigned Project Manager and/or Associate PM, Design Manager and Art Directors and design teams. Keep abreast of projects status. ? Use and update HBO Style Guide, as necessary. ? Understand basic legal principles, including copyrights and trademarks. ? Be familiar with HBO marketing research and apply it as necessary to projects. REQUIREMENTS ? 2 years copywriting or agency experience. ? College degree is preferred. ? Proficient in Mac/PC software, Microsoft Office, and Online technology. ? Excellent organizational, time management, presentation, and verbal/written communication skills. ? Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP style. ? Ability to meet short deadlines and work in fast-paced environment. ? Ability to interface with all levels of management. ?
