Executive Editor - Crown Mid to Senior Level, Full Time, Editorial Department, Editing , Publishing Random House U.S.A, New York, New York Introducing ourselves: Random House, Inc. is the worlds largest general trade book publisher. It is a division of Bertelsmann AG, one of the foremost media companies in the world.

Job duties: The Crown Publishing Group seeks and Executive Editor to join their team. This position will acquire, edit and develop manuscripts in the following categories: Advice, How-to, Miscellaneous: Diet, Health, Self-Help, Memoir, and other practical nonfiction. You will manage all processes of book acquisition through publication in an effort to achieve company objectives. Additionally, you are responsible for conceiving new book ideas and for bringing new authors to the imprint.

Additional responsibilities may include finding authors for manuscripts by using originality and ingenuity that meet the goals of the imprints publishing program. Developing a personal list of high profile authors. Negotiating purchase of manuscript/acquisition contracts. Consulting with publisher and authors on market, content, style, and format of publication. Consulting with authors to provide direction resulting in quality and consistency. Collaborating with design and production departments on style, schedule, format, and aesthetics of publication. Providing consultation on marketing and design strategies, scheduling, and all other strategic decisions.

Job requirements: Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7-10 years of editorial experience. Ability to conceive and develop new ideas and projects. Insightful understanding of the bookselling marketplace and negotiation skills.
