Position Summary:

SpellRead is a research-based, scientifically-evaluated, intensive reading intervention program for students who struggle with reading acquisition and/or reading efficiency. The results-driven SpellRead program and its methods have proven to be remarkably successful in teaching students critical reading and spelling skills. As a SpellRead Program Instructor, you• ll deliver instruction following tightly scripted and highly structured teaching routines and methods. You• ll deliver explicit and systematic instruction to small, homogenous groups of students who advance through 105 carefully sequenced lessons.

Responsibilities: ? Deliver Kaplan Tutorings SpellRead curriculum to children ages 5 and older ? Instruct and drive the academic progress of children in a 1:1 to 3:1 ratio ? Create and maintain a motivational and enthusiastic learning environment ? Interact with parents and discuss their childrens progress ? Provide instruction according to prepared Learning Plans ? Meticulously record student performance and track students? progress ? Administer and score academic assessments ? Give and implement feedback effectively ? Participate in training sessions to learn and master Kaplan Tutoring instructional methods ? Perform administrative tasks as necessary

Qualifications: ? Previous experience working with students; classroom experience a plus ? Bachelors Degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher, excellent reading and spelling skills ? Caring, compassionate and patient with students with learning disabilities ? Demonstrated excellence in auditory processing and phonological skills ? Knack for explaining challenging concepts in a motivating way ? Effective communication skills with students, parents and staff ? Relentlessly positive with students, parents and staff ? Available to work at least 6 hours each week ? Ability to commit to a minimum of 25 -30 hours of start up training ? Weekday afternoons, evenings and/or weekend availability ? Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
