Job description Editorial Assistant - Three Rivers Press, Crown Entry-Level, Full Time, Editorial Department, Editing , Publishing Random House U.S.A, NEW YORK, New York Introducing ourselves: Random House, Inc. is the worlds largest general trade book publisher. It is a division of Bertelsmann AG, one of the foremost media companies in the world. Job duties: Three Rivers Press seeks an Editorial Assistant to join the editorial department, reporting to the Publisher and the Associate Publishing Manager. Three Rivers Press is a trade paperback imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, publishing reprints of books issued initially in hardcover, reissues of backlist titles, as well as original paperback titles. Responsibilities will include administrative tasks as well as reading and evaluating manuscripts, reviewing and logging proposals, responding to and returning rejected manuscripts, attending editorial meetings, and coordinating the editorial and production process. Candidate will also draft correspondence, memos, coordinate the preparation of copyrights and permissions information, and help to maintain communication with authors, agents, and other internal departments. Individual may also write fact sheets, assist with acquisition and manuscript edits, and assist in the preparation, both strategic and practical, of seasonal launch meetings. Job requirements: Ideal candidates should be interested in both fiction and nonfiction, be creative, self-starters, exceptionally organized, and have the ability to multi-task. Strong communication and writing skills are essential as well as the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently. Prior publishing experience is required.
