The research department is looking for an intern to help out with the following titles: Essence, People, InStyle, and EW. General Background Consumer Research & Insights (CRI) conducts all the primary (custom) research for Time Incs magazines and websites using some of the following research methodologies: surveys (mail, telephone and online), focus groups, in-depth interviews, cover testing and analysis of quantitative data. An internship would expose the student to the practical application of many of these research techniques in a real world? multi-platform media setting. The internship would involve work on several different projects for their assigned network including: Writing up reports from our ad effectiveness studies, posting of data, creation of presentations and initial analysis; Creating a database of relevant verbatim comments from recent Issue Reading, Retail Buyer and Cover Tests that can be easily searched; the coordination and observation of discussion/focus groups and/or in-depth 1-on-1 interviews for one or more of our brands, proofing of surveys, etc. In sum, the internship will provide the student with exposure to a number of research applications that may have only been briefly touched upon in an academic setting. Skills and Experience Applicants for the internship should have coursework in statistics, research methods, survey techniques or other related subjects. They should have a strong grasp of Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as have good written, oral and analytical skills.
