Provide administrative support to ambulatory patient care functions. Builds and maintains provider schedules and templates using computerized scheduling program. Ensures all provider schedule changes are communicated throughout the department as necessary, and cancels and reschedules patient appointments. Obtains insurance authorizations for patient referrals incoming and outgoing from the department. Participates in hospital charge entry functions. Coordinates with department secretary for provider template maintenance and scheduling, and administrative support for hospital based programs. Also supports front office operations, registration, discharge, processing new patient referrals and multi-line phones as necessary. Assists in department procurement and inventory coordination. Assists in the preparation of monthly reports of patient visit activity for department. Minimum Qualifications Associates degree and two years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Prefer patient financial/insurance services experience in a health care related setting, working knowledge of medical terminology, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills. Prior working experience with ambulatory patient care administrative functions, collecting and analyzing data, organizing appropriate record keeping systems, and outside agencies such as insurance carriers, CMS, billing companies and or other support agencies preferred.
