ENSCO, Inc.s GeoSystem Solutions Division is seeking a team-oriented Chemist with experience in computational quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics to support an array of programs focused on atmospheric chemistry, surface chemistry, and sensor design in Edgewood/Aberdeen Maryland. The incumbent will perform research using quantum chemistry principles to determine the critical reaction parameters of compounds of interest and the interaction of the materials with atmospheric components and surfaces. The incumbent will use proven problem-solving skills, excellent report writing and technical presentation skills, and will work with a team of Scientists to solve unique physical chemistry problems. Qualifications Required: - A PhD degree in Chemistry is required plus 5 years relevant experience - A PhD degree in Physical or Quantum Chemistry is highly desirable; however a PhD degree in Analytical or Surface Chemistry would be acceptable if the individual has had some exposure to applied chemistry methods with 5 plus years relevant experience - Strong problem-solving skills. The candidate must have demonstrated an ability to apply their technical knowledge towards solving real-world problems in past endeavors - Must be proficient on PC, UNIX, and/or Linux platforms - Excellent writing and verbal skills - Proficient in the application of quantum chemical programs (ACES, Gaussian, GAMESS) - A strong background in physical and organic chemistry - Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Excel/Word/PowerPoint) - Scientific software development (FORTRAN), and computer modeling expertise - The ability to obtain a Security Clearance is required Qualifications Desired: - Knowledge of molecular dynamics (e.g., DL-POLY, CP2K) - A general understanding of atmospheric chemistry and/or surface chemistry processes - The ability to work on a variety of R&D projects with a multi-disciplinary team of Scientists and Engineers focused on building tailored solutions to complex physical chemistry modeling problems - Current U.S. government security clearance at TS level or above (TS/SCI preferred) - Knowledge of and experience with projects at Aberdeen Proving Grounds is a plus Division Description: The GeoSystems Solutions (GS) Division is located in Melbourne, FL and provides a wide range of complementary skills and talents to computational chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, seismic research and exploration, as well as atmospheric modeling. ENSCOs scientists and engineers are renowned for geophysical research, development and data analysis in support of efforts to monitor international treaty compliance.
