Essential Duties and Responsibilities  The essential duties of this position include but are not limited to    Demonstrates expertise and extensive knowledge of products  patient treatment trends  clinical trials  and scientific activities within the Neuroscience Disease Area and continuously updates this expertise and knowledge based on training direction and approved resources provided  Demonstrates the ability to present approved scientific data of varying levels of complexity to Healthcare providers in both group and one to one settings in accordance with Company Policies  and applicable laws  regulations and ethical standards  Demonstrates effective listening skills by allowing Healthcare providers to express their opinions and provides appropriate response to unsolicited scientific questions or requests  Anticipates questions and is prepared to provide appropriate response    Utilizes therapeutic expertise in contacts with External Experts to further understand and gain insight into  1  treatment patterns  2  the scientific activities taking place within the Disease Area  3  the needs and interests of Healthcare providers  and  4  the medical needs of patients  Identifies and fully prepares speakers for promotional programs and speaker training meetings utilizing approved resources  Identifies and prepares moderators for advisory boards in accordance with Company Policies  Provides constructive feedback to speakers regarding accuracy and delivery of scientific data and adherence to Compliance Policies  Contributes  as appropriate  utilizing approved resources to the ongoing medical scientific disease area and product specific training of internal customers  sales force  MSL  etc    Serves as a points of contact and medical resource for District Managers and sales representatives and accurately answers medical question they may have to help them utilize their approved materials and to help them understand therapeutic issues for their background use in accordance with Company Policies  and applicable laws  regulations and ethical standards  Participates in any type of internal training format or venue according to training direction  Demonstrates the ability to train other MSLs in skillfully and appropriately presenting scientific information  Act as a mentor to new hire MSLs  Facilitates the submission process of investigators  proposals for clinical trials if support is requested  in accordance with Company Policies  and applicable laws  regulations and ethical standards  Certifies against all required compliance training  Contributes and promotes a culture of innovation  constructive challenge  team spirit and accountability Knowledge Necessary to Perform this Job  Knowledge of NS Disease Area  Strong leadership skills  Effective communication and presentation skills  Word  Powerpoint and Excel skills  Understanding of FDA regulations  OIG guidances  and Code of Conduct requirements particularly relevant to the MSL function Essential Skills Education and Experience    Advanced degree in medical science  MD  PhD  or PharmD  preferred but not required  MSL level requires a minimum of 2 3 years working in a clinical or pharmaceutical environment    Sr MSL requires a minimum of 4 6 years working in a clinical or pharmaceutical environment and a minimum of 2 years of pharmaceutical field medical experience  Translating scientific or clinical data into high quality medical information to help physicians best serve their patients  Communicating scientific and or clinical data to research or Healthcare professionals  Quickly and comprehensively learning about new subject areas and environments Travel Requirements  Approximately 50  Back to top
