Kaplan Test Prep is seeking a Director of HR Analytics and Compensation. This person will report to the Chief Administrative Officer. This position is responsible for developing and leading Kaplan Test Preps (KTP) compensation strategy and philosophy to ensure that it is aligned with the desired performance outcomes, employee behavior and culture that will support the organizations ability to achieve future success. In addition, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a full suite of quantitative business intelligence (BI) tools to improve human capital management. This position will be based in our New York office. Responsibilities include: * Leading the design, implementation and on-going administration of base salary, variable pay, and long term compensation programs across all business units under the Kaplan Test Prep umbrella. * Directing the development and implementation of market pricing, job evaluation, pay structures, ranges, and salary planning programs. Overseeing the successful execution of the annual performance bonus program. * Understanding business goals and culture and introducing a suite of BI tools to analyze and further these efforts and to identify underlying trends. * Managing integration and use of business analytics on headcount, organizational performance metrics, and other key performance indicators. * Providing consulting advice and counsel to senior management on small and large scale compensation strategies to support division business plan objectives. * Overseeing compliance with applicable labor laws, accounting rules and governance regulations, and coordinating their integration into the Kaplans compensation programs. This includes maintaining a strong working relationship with the Legal Dept. on all compensation filings, decision-making, recordkeeping, and other compliance matters. * Developing manager and employee training, communication strategies, and materials to create clarity and understanding around Kaplans compensation philosophy. Collaborating with Communications, HR Managers, and Division leaders to assure key organizational messages are integrated and desired outcomes are achieved. * Overseeing job design, job-specific competencies, and the creation and integration of the leadership competency model into compensation programs. Consulting on organizational design strategies. Requirements for this position include: * Outstanding knowledge of base and variable pay programs, executive compensation, performance management systems, and a thorough knowledge of labor laws, security regulations and their impact on the organizations compensation policy and practice. * Results-driven, business-oriented mindset focused on adding value and arriving at creative solutions to complex and challenging problems. * High tolerance for ambiguity and calculated risk-taking. * 10+ years of relevant experience in HR analytics and compensation. * Thorough understanding and application of HR principles, concepts and practices. * Exceptional leadership, team building and group facilitation skills. * Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation desirable. * Strong critical and conceptual thinking ability coupled with qualitative and quantitative analytical skills. * Superior ability to communicate, influence, persuade, gain the confidence of, and advise senior management on sensitive issues related to both compensation and performance management. * Excellent project management skills. Critical Success Factors: * Establish strong rapport and credibility with Kaplan, Inc.s and KTPs key management team as well as members of the HR and Finance organization to achieve position objectives. * Develop a deep understanding of the structure and programs, services, and businesses that make up KTP and all of the compensation plans currently in practice. * Manage the creation and implementation of a compensation philosophy and program; roll out a quality suite of applicable HR analytics to drive decision making while maintaining current deliverables.
