Programmer Associate, IDEAS Practice Areas

JOB Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc. seeks Programmer Associate, IDEAS Practice Areas in New York, NY to develop custom programs and applications for the Institutional Equity Divisions Program Trading and Risk Consolidation desks, including an equity-analytics tool used by varied business to be used by traders and quantitative analysts.  Responsible for the back-end design and coding for the applications, including analytics number crunching for user portfolios, utilizing C++, Java and Perl on a Linux Server. Responsible for infrastructure integration and maintenance of the processes, utilizing Sybase, XML messaging, Pub/Sub technology, SOAP, XSLT on a Linux server on Unix and Windows environments. Utilize mathematics behind the analytics that are computed to come up with the most efficient algorithm to implement it in C++. Generate reports utilizing Microsoft Office tools, such as Microsoft Excel. REQUIREMENTS Masters degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related information technology field, and one (1) year of experience designing and implementing reporting systems using XML, SOAP, XSLT, and Pub/Sub technology on a Linux/Unix or Windows environment for a global financial services institution.  Prior experience must include performing system integration, including process setup, data flow integration, and configuration management, as well as working with advanced database processes in Sybase or DB2 or related database.
