MarketBus is MS proprietary technology developed to represent market data of arbitrary complexity, and provide means of storing and versioning of market data. The system includes a set of generic core Java classes designed specifically for this task, as well as a database repository to allow market data persistence and caching. FID MarketBus is an installation of MarketBus involved in collecting, persisting, and distributing end-of-day Fixed Income market data. The system interfaces with most FID trading systems, as well as company-level market data suppliers and books and records. FID MarketBus is undergoing expansion to cover all market data classes in all of MSs Sales & Trading (FID, Equity, Commodities) and become the official EOD market data hub for all front office systems. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to implement functionality required by the new EOD Marking Policy. This includes changes in the existing system and significant new components. The position involves potential exposure to the whole breadth and depth of market data, depending on the individuals skills and desire to learn. Work with your team members in New York, as well as with IDEAS Practice Area members in multiple regions, Controllers, business analysts, and operations and trading desk personel to to add new features and improve system performance, as the system expands to provide coverage for all of Sales & Trading. Skills Required The ideal candidate should possess 3-5 years of experience developing and supporting complex systems in a distributed environment. Hands-on experience with the following technologies is required: -- Strong server-side Java -- XML -- Linux The following skills are also required: -- Very strong CS Fundamentals (data structures, inter-process communication, threading) -- Ability to understand and explain abstract concepts -- Strong communication skills -- Ability to be focused and organized -- BS in Computer Science -- Familiarity with relational db concepts and development (Sybase) Skills Desired Familiarity with the following technologies is a plus: -- Perl -- C# -- Web programming Fixed Income knowledge is a plus Please refer to job code 230821 when responding to this ad.
