Job Information Title: Programmer/Analyst Department: Information Technology Repost Date: 09/23/09 Close Date: 02/28/10 Hay Point Evaluation: N/A 100% Rate of Pay: $27.978 to $43.129 *(See Wage Progression Chart) Position Classification: Non Safety Sensitive Location: Jamaica Reports To: Manager/Senior Manager Union Affiliation: TCU-Exception - 5 Summary The primary purpose of this position is to be accountable for the design, development, testing, implementation and documentation of automated systems to achieve Company and Department objectives. Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limit to: Analyze, design and program computer applications in the language prescribed. Analyze business requirements and prepare functional design of application architecture. Analyze production problems and modify programs accordingly. Provide system documentation and user documentation in accordance with structured systems development life cycle (SDLC) standards. Submit weekly & monthly activity reports. Evaluate operating efficiency of hardware Install manufacturer supplied updates to applications.  Design system specifications, record formats, report layouts, source documents, necessary requirements and programs of computer based information systems (mainframe, mid-range, or microcomputer) to assure optimum utilization of computer capabilities. Develop test data relative to computer based information systems to assure exhaustive testing of all computer routines, programs and integrated program packages. Develop test criteria, analyze logic difficulties, review programs and assist other team members with the development of systems specifications. Work with users to develop functional requirements and specifications. Assist with systems support, maintenance and modification requirements. Keep abreast of new practices and techniques in information systems technologies. Qualifications Programmer Level I Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or certificate in data processing. (In lieu of a Degree, a minimum of 3 years directly related experience may be considered, subject to approval.) Knowledge of computer languages specific to an applications development. Ability to apply logic to the development of computer programs. Knowledge of various database languages. Experience with mainframe, mid-range computers, or microcomputers along with knowledge of various computer languages that support the different platforms. Programmer/Analyst-Level 1 Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field and certificate in data processing with a minimum of three years of directly related data processing experience. (In lieu of a Degree, a minimum of 5 years directly related experience may be considered, subject to approval). Knowledge of computer languages specific to applications being developed. Ability to apply logic to the development of computer programs. Knowledge and experience with structured systems development life cycle (SDLC) standards computer-aided software engineering (CASE) skills. Ability to take initiative in finding solutions. Ability to communicate and work effectively with users and team members. Knowledge of various database languages. Knowledge of available testing tools. Experience with mainframe, mid-range computers, or microcomputers, along with knowledge of various computer languages that support the different platforms. Programmer/Analyst-Level 2 Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field and certificate in data processing with a minimum of five years of directly related data processing experience. (In lieu of a Degree, a minimum of eight years directly related experience may be considered, subject to approval). Knowledge of computer languages specific to applications being developed. Ability to apply logic to the development of computer programs. Knowledge and experience with structured systems development life cycle (SDLC) standards computer-aided software engineering (CASE) skills. Ability to take initiative in finding solutions. Ability to communicate and work effectively with users and team members. Knowledge of various database languages. Knowledge of available testing tools.
