Position Title Senior Financial Analyst Posting Date 11-07-2008 Posting Number 20090054 Grade 17 Division 02 - OPERATIONS AND TREASURY Category Administrative/Professional Object Code 100 F/T or P/T: FT Position Summary Design and deliver training to Universitys principle investigators (e.g., faculty) to develop understanding of current and new costing systems (e.g., unallowables, administrative and clerical charges, space allocation, equipment inventory, grants management, etc.); maintain reference library. Develop new programs and provide ongoing training and support. Assist the Assistant Controller with the development and defense of indirect cost rates, fringe benefit rates and other special rate studies and analyses (e.g., cost sharing and tuition remission); develop and maintain cost and statistical databases. Prepare utilization reports and interpret results from a variety of University databases and Comprehensive Rate Information System (CRIS) models to assist with projection of future indirect cost revenues for planning and forecasting. Oversee the extraction and completion of labor system data requests for Federal auditors; oversee the submission of all necessary documentation to Federal auditors during indirect cost or other reviews. Review Universitys space utilization and equipment inventory analysis to ensure accuracy of data and compliance with University policies and procedures; provide analysis and make recommendations to the Assitant Controller on how to maximize University space utilization survey. Install, maintain and train researchers and administrators on the new equipment space system interface. Qualifications/Required Education Bachelors degree in accounting or finance and 5 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience with indirect cost accounting, relational databases, and technical training. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to individuals at all levels. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Strong analytical skills. Preferre: Comprehensive knowledge of research administration and federal grant regulations. Experience working in a higher education. Familiarity with OMB A-21 & A-133 Circulars.
