Position Title Asst VP, Global Compensation and Benefits & Deputy of HR Posting Date 10-15-2009 Posting Number 20090736 Grade 0 Division 06 - HUMAN RESOURCES Category Administrative/Professional Object Code 100 F/T or P/T: FT Position Summary This position serves as the primary driver of global compensation and benefits strategies and administration for NYU. Working closely with the VP of HR and the Senior Director of Benefits, this role will ensure all programs and actions align with NYUs global business objectives and maintain a competitive and equitable compensation and benefits structure that will attract, retain and motivate high performing employees. Incumbent will set the strategic direction for the compensation and benefits functions and oversee their administration. Functional oversight for programs including, but not limited to: merit increases, incentive and recognition programs, benefit and insurance plan design and administration, salary budgeting, policies and procedures and vendor review and selection. Manage and leverage vendor relationships, technology and resources, negotiating services and managing costs. Ensure compensation and benefits programs comply with legal requirements on a worldwide basis in locations and jurisdictions in which NYU operates. Assist with communicating compensation and benefits strategies and programs to key constituents, bargaining unit leadership, faculty, employees, and university senior leadership. Functional oversight of fringe budget and control costs. Qualifications/Required Education Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management or related area Preferred Education Masters degree in business, Human Resources Management or related area. CCP, GRP and/or CBP certification preferred. Required Experience 10+ years professional HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience leading a global compensation and benefits function. 7 - 10 years experience designing and implementing global total rewards strategies. Experience administering Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans, 403B and/or 401K plans, in a union environment. Demonstrated knowledge of compliance with ERISA and other regulatory issues that impact compensation and benefits. Experience implementing a compensation and benefits service delivery model. Vendor relationship management. Proven track record in cost management. Demonstrated leadership capabilities for professional staff of 25+. Preferred Experience Experience developing and delivering HR, compensation and benefits programs in and for employee populations based in the Middle East and China. 403B and 457B plan experience. Experience leading projects and working in a startup environment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service orientation. Ability to work with teams. Outstanding analytical, communication, negotiation, collaboration and presentation skills. Results oriented and focused on continuous improvement.
