Purchasing Engineer

In this position, SR Purchasing Engineer, Home Health-Care Supply Management, can expect to perform the following duties with a focus on the Home monitoring and RDD Business Segments. 1. Act as the Supply Management single point of contact for project teams. 2. Lead Supply Management activities with Business Segments. 3. Leverage the Philips Global Supply Base by building strong, value-adding relationships with internal business units and key interfacing organizations. 4. Assure effective supply chain management related functions with focus on supply capacity, delivery, cost optimization, and translation of customer and/or business unit requirements. 5. Understand and communicate project-specific requirements to appropriate customers and suppliers. 6. Communicate Supply Management progress against project milestones. 7. Assemble/forward procurement documents to suppliers as required. 8. Participate in project review meetings. 9. Manage supplier purchase order issuance and execution. 10. Receive, track, review and/or approve supplier document submittals per quality system procedures. 11. Drive supplier performance levels to continually higher added value state. General Job Function PURPOSE OF POSITION: To Lead Supply Management activities through organizing, planning, Sourcing controlling procurement, material planning and inventory management functions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (Listed in order of importance) 1. Implement standards contained in Philips Codes of Business Ethics & Conduct. 2. Alignment of sourcing, negotiation and partnering strategies for supply chain that ensure cost improvement and integration synergies. 3. Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement initiatives consistent with company and Business Unit goals and objectives. 4. Develop and implement supply management strategies and best practices that complement business strategies. 5. Lead project reviews with Strategic and Key Suppliers facilitate discussion that leads to a more optimal value stream. Assure continuous improvement in key performance metrics. 6. Lead regular part pricing reviews with suppliers; validate open book and or competitive pricing information. Assure that supplied material pricing meets project targets 7. Lead development of material usage forecasts and inventory strategies to ensure that lowest cost of ownership. 8. Participate in direct supplier selection, negotiation, development and management for purchases to achieve both plant operating objectives and supply management goals. 9. Foster and build strong, value-adding relationships with internal customers and key interfacing organizations including Marketing, Engineering, and Quality Assurance, to strengthen supply management effectiveness; with focus on cost reduction, risk management and translation of customer and/or Business Unit requirements. 10. Lead supplier performance initiatives to ensure maximum value is delivered to supply chain (i.e., JIT purchasing, supplier stocking programs, partnerships, relationships with key supplier executives, performance measurement, recognition, etc.). 11. Formulate and execute global sourcing strategies which are integrated with business goals and leverage leveraged commodities. 12. Establish, maintain and report key supply management performance metrics. Establish action plans to improve supplier and business segment performance and resolve identified non-conformance situations. 13. Maintain global marketplace intelligence regarding suppliers? economic visibility, financial strength and technical knowledge Desired Skills and Experience 1. Progressively more responsible and varied assignments in project and supply management positions. 2. Relevant experience in contract and program management of complex engineering, procurement, and Medical Device projects. 3. Significant experience with supplier contracting and negotiation. Education Bachelors Degree, Engineering or related Technical field required; MBA preferred

Years of Experience 10+ Years Travel Position may require extended periods of time at remote sites. Significant ? Up to 75% International travel will be required.
