OUTCOMES: The successful candidate will: Lead and assist in the development and implementation of strategies within the Mechanical commodities. Establish, develop and maintain relationships with strategic/preferred suppliers. The candidate is expected to work on new product development projects to establish and execute material sourcing plans; As an engineer, the successful candidate will lead activities in the new product development and sustaining environments that are required to source supplied materials at optimal value for the organization in terms of cost, delivery and quality; The position will function as part of several development teams and is responsible to identify, manage and/or mitigate supplied material program risks; A high degree of interaction is required within the new product development engineering community and sustaining engineering to ensure products are developed for manufacture and assembly and are able to be produced in a Zero defect environment; Negotiate supplier material pricing for new and sustaining products. BASIC REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: This position requires a minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. MBA preferred. EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of practical experience working in an Mechanical manufacturing industry. 1-3 years medical device experience preferred. Combination of Mechanical and molded plastics experience is a plus. Design of Experiments,contract manufacturing, product and process risk management, process validation knowledge and experience is preferred. PROFESSIONAL OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Moderate travel; (25-50%). Requires the ability to perform in a sedentary work environment (e.g. office) and in a travel environment.
