Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Summary:

Troubleshoot / repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as hydraulic excavators, loaders, and forklifts.  Perform scheduled PMs.

Principal Duties:

* Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble * Dismantles devices to and remove and replace defective parts * Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections * Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements * Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments * Repairs or replaces defective parts * Installs special functional and structural parts in devices * Lubricates and cleans parts * Starts devices to test their performance * Initiates purchase order for parts and machines * Repairs electrical equipment Requirements

Abilities and Skills:

* 4+ yrs experience in mechanical repair related experience in a heavy industrial setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to read schematics. * Technical school preferred. * Position involves standing for long periods of time, as well as, some heavy lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling and bending. * Employee should be able to climb and work at heights.
